The USS Dauntless is a Galaxy class starship launched from Utopia Planitia shipyard in June 2365. During it's early service the ship completed a number of scouting and reconnaissance patrols earning her the nickname, "The Seeing Eye." After seven years of service the ship came under the command of Captain Robert Wright and fought alongside the Seventh Fleet in the Dominion War, participating in the Second Battle for Deep Space Nine, the Battle at Goralis and the Final Battle.

After the conclusion of the Dominion War, the Dauntless returned to regular duties and takes assignments out of Starbase 12, near the Maelstrom. Her latest assignment is to investigate unusual stellar readings the Vesuvi System, within the Maelstrom.
