[edit] Star Trek: Bridge Commander The USS Sovereign NX 73811 is the prototype for the Sovereign class of Federation starship, and is one of the most advanced starships in Starfleet. Initially designed with the latest advances in technology, such as quantum torpedoes, regenerative shielding and ablative hull armor, initial shaketown tests for the ship revealed the ship required too much power to operate effectivley, and the ship was put back into Mars spacedock for storage. Many of the technologies tested on the Sovereign however were developed into subsequent Starfleet vessel designs such as the Defiant and Prometheus classes, and a second Sovereign class spaceframe was later completed and equipped with some of the technologies. This ship was christened the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-E after the destruction of it's predecessor at Veridian III.
